In 1994, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and the State of Minnesota file the first lawsuit of its kind against the tobacco industry. Blue Cross receives its settlement funds in 2006, establishes the Center for Prevention and announces a commitment to reinvest $241 million to improve the health of all Minnesotans. The work of the Center continues to evolve, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to improving health at a community level.
